CGI DIRECTS AUTOMATIC PASSPORT REMINDER SYSTEM*
COMPTROLLER GENERAL OF IMMIGRATION, MUHAMMAD BABANDEDE HAS DIRECTED ALL PASSPORT OFFICES ACROSS THE NATION TO IMPLEMENT THE AUTOMATIC PASSPORT REMINDER SYSTEM, ALREADY BEING TEST-RUN AT THE SERVICE’ HEADQUARTERS IN ABUJA.
A STATEMENT BY THE NIGERIA IMMIGRATION SERVICE’ PUBLIC RELATIONS OFFICER, DCI SUNDAY JAMES INDICATES THAT THE SYSTEM WHICH WAS ARRIVED AT AS A WAY OF OBSERVING THE COVID-19 PREVENTION PROTOCOLS CONFIRMS PAYMENT AND OTHER PROCESS STATUS TO APPLICANTS IN THE FORM OF ONLINE FEEDBACK.
THE VIDEO CONFERENCE WHICH WAS COORDINATED FROM ABUJA HAD ZONAL COORDINATORS OF THE EIGHT ZONES OF THE SERVICE, ALL THE STATE COMMAND COMPTROLLERS AND THE LAGOS STATE PASSPORT COMMAND AMONG OTHERS IN ATTENDANCE, HAD THE COMPTROLLER GENERAL WARNING THAT NO EXTRA CHARGES ARE ALLOWED APART FROM THE APPROVED FEES ON THE SERVICE’ WEBSITE AND OTHER OFFICIAL PUBLICATIONS OF THE SERVICE.
HE ALSO DIRECTED THAT ALL PASSPORT OFFICERS SHOULD ESTABLISH A FRONT DESK OFFICE FOR THE TEEMING APPLICANTS SO AS TO ENSURE APPLICATIONS ARE SUBMITTED DIRECTLY TO THE INSTITUTION AND NOT TO INDIVIDUALS, WHILE A TRACKING MECHANISM SHOULD BE SET UP TO FIND STOLEN OR LOST PASSPORTS.
