The Presidency regrets to announce the passage of the Chief of Staff to the President, Mallam Abba Kyari. The deceased had tested positive to the ravaging COVID-19, and had been receiving treatment. HOUSE SEEKS 2-MONTHS FREE POWER SUPPLY FOR NIGERIANS

THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES IS TO CONSIDER ANOTHER ECONOMIC STIMULUS BILL THAT WILL ENSURE THAT NIGERIANS GET FREE SUPPLY OF ELECTRICITY FOR TWO MONTHS TO MITIGATE THE EFFECTS OF COVID-19 ON THE ECONOMY. THIS CAME TO LIGHT DURING A MEETING BETWEEN LEADERSHIP OF THE NATIONAL ASSEMBLY, THE MINISTER OF FINANCE AND DIRECTOR GENERAL OF THE BUDGET OFFICE. THE SPEAKER FEMI GBAJABIAMILA  SAID THE PROPOSED BILL WILL BE CONSIDERED IMMEDIATELY THE HOUSE RECONVENES FROM THE ONGOING BREAK WHICH WAS DECLARED DUE TO THE PANDEMIC. Press release PPPRA announced new petrol pump price for the month of April

in line with the Government approval for a monthly review of Premium Motor Spirit (PMS) pump price, PETROLEUM PRODUCTS PRICING REGULATORY AGENCY (PPPRA) has announced a  PMS pump price of N123.50 per Litre. The price which becomes effective 1st April 2020, shall apply at all retail outlets nationwide for the month of April, 2020. A statement Signed By Abdulkadir Saidu Executive Secretary Said PPPRA and other relevant regulatory Agencies shall continue to monitor compliance to extant regulations for a sustainable downstream petroleum sector. Members of the Public and all Oil Marketing Companies are to be guided accordingly.

COVID-19 PANDEMIC: FRSC ARRESTS 144 FOR OVERLOADING OF PASSENGERS, ORDERS ALL PUBLIC TRANSPORT OPERATORS TO USE PASSENGERS MANIFEST, ACTIVATE PRECAUTIONARY MEASURES

In Pursuant to the need to mitigate the spread of corona virus amongst passengers, the Federal Road Safety Corps has arrested a total of 144 offenders for overloading of vehicles in persons and ordered all categories of transporters to ensure full compliance with the provisions of Regulation 108 (1) of the National Road Traffic Regulation 2012 on compulsory passenger manifest; while directing all public transport operators to imbibe necessary precautionary measures in their parks and terminals as failure to adhere strictly to this order will attract the necessary sanctions. In a statement issued by the Corps Public Education Officer, Bisi Kazeem, he said that the Corps Marshal, Dr Boboye Oyeyemi who gave the order stated that the Corps observed that despite the palpable spread of the virus, public transport operators continued to board passengers to full capacity without consideration to social distancing, passenger manifest and seat spacing of passengers. Senate Cttee on information cautions against Fake news on COVID-19.

The Chairman Senate Committee on Information Senator Danladi Sankara has called on Nigerians to be weary of fake news on the Coronavirus especially on the social media. Senator Sankara in a statement observed that there are a number of unrealistic stories on the virus which seems to create panic instead of precaution. He pointed out the story making rounds few days ago alleging that some members of the National Assembly tested positive to the Virus as one of such fake news. The Chairman senate Committee on information pointed out that the duty to announce any case of Coronavirus in the country is under the purview of the Nigerian Centre for disease control or the ministry of health and not private individuals. Senator Sankara advised Nigerians to strictly adhere to the sanitary guidelines as released by health officials  especially maintaining social distancing and constant washing of hands. THE FEDERAL MINISTRY OF WATER SAYS THE NIGERIA CENTRE FOR DISEASE CONTROL, NCDC HAS CLEARED THE MINISTER, SULEIMAN ADAMU OF THE COVID-19 DISEASE. THIS FOLLOWED THE RELEASE OF RESULT AFTER THE WATER RESOURCES MINISTER REPORTEDLY SUBMITTED HIMSELF FOR MEDICAL SCRUTINY BY THE NCDC,  AFTER HE RETURNED FROM THE UK RECENTLY. A STATEMENT BY THE MINISTRY  INDICATES THAT THE MINISTER WHO ATTENDED A HIGH LEVEL  MEETING ON WATER IN THE UK ON 10TH MARCH RETURNED TO NIGERIA THE FOLLOWING DAY AND HAS BEEN TAKING ALL DUE PRECAUTIONS TO PROTECT HIMSELF,  HIS FAMILY MEMBERS AND HIS CONTACTS SINCE HIS RETURN.
