The Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) regrets to announce the demise of its  immediate past Group Managing Director (GMD), Dr. Maikanti Kacalla Baru, Friday night. Dr. Baru was the 18th Group Managing Director of the nnpc a consummate Mechanical Engineer, who steered the affairs of the Corporation from July 4th 2016 to July 7th 2019 . A statement by the NNPC Group General Manager, Group Public Affairs, Dr. Kennie Obateru announced the passing on of dr maikanti Baru after a brief illness in a hospital in Abuja The release says NNPC Group Managing Director, Mele Kyari expressed shock over the sudden death of dr maikanti baru ,describing him as a man ‘of exemplary character and disposition.’ Dr. Baru, was 60, years  Old.

The attention of the Office of the Accountant General of the Federation (OAGF) has been drawn to series of reports on claims by tertiary institutions unions, led by ASUU, that IPPIS was deducting their salaries and allowances to the extent that their take home is now only 50% or less of what they earn. IPPIS applied the correct rate in compliance with Section 34 of the 6th schedule on personal income tax (Amendment) Act of 2011.
